Home Happenings - April 2017

Monday, April 17, 2017

This has definitely been a "HOPPIN" week!  Easter week is one of the busiest weeks we have around here!

After tons of candy was collected, a group of residents gathered at the big round table with their coffee cups and began stuffing eggs.  They stuffed egg after egg and laughed at each other while eggs were rolling around and some refusing to close!  Each one of our residents were excited to see the faces of the children as they hunted.

We had 1000 eggs donated from Lowes Landscaping plus another 1000 eggs we stuffed ourselves.  On Tuesday afternoon, several gathered in the dining room to color hard boiled eggs.  Designs, pastels, neons.... the young at heart enjoyed the true art of egg dying.

The true excitement began on Friday when the Easter Bunny showed up to our home.  He hopped around the building hiding eggs for our residents to hunt.  Their egg hunt was followed up with punch, cupcakes and pictures with the Easter Bunny.  That afternoon, the kids came flooding in, baskets in hand!  First, they each had their pictures taken then went on a wild egg hunt.  We had children everywhere, with residents leading them to the hidden eggs!

We would like to say thank you to all that donated their time and candy so our residents and children of the community could enjoy this week!

Home Happenings - February 2017

Let's roll out the red carpet and introduce you to the King and Queen of Cuba Manor!

On Valentine's Day, our residents gathered in anticipation to see who would win the Valentine's Day crowns.  Jerry Stricklin took the royal title of King alongside Helen Dean, who proudly wore the crown of the Queen.  First runner up for Queen went to Phyllis Shipley and first runner up for King went to Gregory Wolfe.  Each were presented with a royal robe, flowers and a variety of prizes.

After naming our King and Queen, our Valentine's Day celebration started.  Rose petals lined the floor, balloons were in the air and the dance floor was packed as we jammed out to music from the 60s.  Chuck Berry started the party with the popular song, "Johnnie B. Goode."  Toes were tapping and heads were swaying as everyone sang and laughed.  Our therapy department joined in as well pulling Mr. Paul Hogan up from his seat to do the two-step.

On behalf of all residents here at Cuba Manor, we would like to send a special thank you to our community for all your services, thoughts and well wishes.  We also invited you to join us next month to check out our St. Patrick's Day festivities!
